SUPER WEEKEND!

Friday, June.27.2003:

quote: co-worker - "so why are you leaving work early today? got a big date?
quote: me - "yes, with Superman."
quote: co-worker - "okay Lois, have fun."

Superman 1 : last showing at the beaches pavillion:

it was pretty cool. I, my brother, my grandma, cousins, niece and nephew got there 'round 6:30pm. lucky* and thankful to find a parking spot. we got a great spot on the concrete and managed to save spots for all my friends. thanks troops. i'm just glaaad that everybody got there before the movie started. the movie experience was just like being at the drive-in, only in lawn chairs. I miss those days. and I like the whole grainy old movie effects on the screen. dvd technology is nice being super clear and all, but... I dig the grainy texture. I tried to take some pics and mov clips with my digi camera. got some okay ones. I will post them up once I get a basic design structure going on in here. after the movie, I agreed with how my cousin felt, that they shouldn't make a new superman movie. really, I think the bar is totally raised up super high, for what they did with the technology back then and casting Christopher Reeve. all I know is, no present actors fit the role at this time. I wouldn't mind Tom Welling from Smallville, - he plays a nice younger superman care of Christopher Reeve. I still can not believe they considered Nicholas Cage back then. yeah, right?.

3/5 year reunion and Finding Nemo.

super weekend, indeed. I, along with a couple of friends, got to see an old friend and fellow class of 96er, Genielyn (whom some of us haven't seen since 2000 or 1998), and see/meet her 4yr old daughter (my god daughter), Jaelyn. sad to say, they flew in from hawaii to attend to their family for Genielyn's grandfather's passing. our deepest sympathies go out to her and family.

that night, before they were scheduled to leave, we got to hang with them for a bit at the mall and then watch FINDING NEMO. it was cool. Jaelyn's a totally cool kid. very active, curious, and loving. the movie was funny. I liked the turtles the best. my favorite character was squirt, the little turtle. after the movie, I asked Jaelyn who her favorite character was, and she said "Cinderella". you know... how they always show the disney castle at the beginning of every disney movie? it was funny, when they showed it, Jaelyn yelled out "it's cinderella's castle!". she's so cute! afterwards, we took more pictures and said our goodbyes. we dropped Genielyn and Jaelyn off, and hoped to meet them at the airport the next day. unfortunately Terence and I almost missed her. I did manage to get to talk to Genielyn on her cellphone while she was on the plane. at least I got to talk to her. they're now back in hawaii and are doing fine. probably, the next time we'll see her is either at the reunion and/or at any weddings that may happen prior??? we shall see.

"GO KLITSCHKO!" lennox sucks!

Hello, and yes, I am a fan of boxing. :)

Date, we saw the fight: Sunday, June 22nd, 2003. Did anyone see the fight between Vitali Klitschko and lennox lewis? Man oh man... okay?, so the fight lasted for 6 complete rounds and was stopped by doctor due to vitali's cut above his eye. how unfair an uncool. thus, the TKO was given to lewis--- oh ppplease... he got lucky, if anything.

I'm sorry, but everybody and anybody who watched that fight knew that Vitali was winning the fight by score. and geeeez.... you could tell that lennox was all scared and tired at the start. he didn't even come out until later in the beginning. I wish Vitali knocked him out in the first round prior to the getting the cut in the 2nd or 3rd round.

and after the fight, lennox had the nerve to say he would've won. you know, I was soooo happy when lennox lost before. him and nasseem hammed (where'd he dissappear to?). haha! both of these guys are all talk. I want roy jones to beat lennox and make him look like a fool.

well, hopefully there will be a rematch and I'll be happy if both klitschko brothers (my favorite one, being Vladimir :), Vitali's bro) can beat lennox lewis.

MY FAVORITE BOXERS:

1. Vladmir "The Steel Hammer" Klitschko
2. Vitali "Dr. Iron Fist" Klitschko
3. Roy Jones, Jr.
4. Arturo "Thunder" Gatti
5. Oscar "Golden Boy" De la hoya
6. Brian "The Hawaiian Punch" Villoria
7. Marco Antonio "The Baby Face Assassin" Barrera
8. Juan "El Pollo" Valenzuela
9. Manny Pacquiao

WE WERE THERE. :)

Sunday, June 8th, 2003rd
--> NORAH JONES CONCERT <--
@ The House Of Blues.

Maan! what can I say?... it was an AWESOME EXPERIENCE! first time ever that we were sooo close, - 2nd row from the stage, about 5 ft away from her. close enough to have actual eye contact with Norah and her band mates while they jammed.

I still can't believe it! it was just amazing to just be there to witness Norah and band play their music live. They're all so cool! From time to time, Norah would joke around and interact with the crowd. She even made faces and stuck her tongue out - which I thought was funny. she said she couldn't believe she was in Disneyworld and that she felt Mickey Mouse was watching over her. then she changed her mind and said.. no, GOOfy, and that she liked Goofy the best. isn't she cool? She seems like a down-to-earth type of person, low key, very humble, with sense of humor. I hope she doesn't change and get caught up into that glam like "others" who I don't even want to name who are in the pop/rap business. The difference is... Norah's music has meaning/substance and actually sounds good. I dig the jazzy, old fashioned country sound vs. "others". I look forward to her future albums and I look forward to the "others" fading away 'cause they just suck - but that's my opinion. :)

YOU GO NORAH JONES & BAND! Dang, and she's only 24. isn't that inspiring?! her, Incubus, etc. all these people making it to their dreams young. makes me think like I need to get a move on. *sigh... I'll be 25 soon.

Want to know something funny though? Today, Norah Jones is here in Jacksonville and will play at the Florida Theatre. The tickets were sold at right after Grammys, so it was sold out quick!!! like 2 hours. I think.

INFINITE THANKS to TERENCE!!! he was able to buy our tickets online from someone who was selling 4 orlando tickets.

M.issing I.n A.ction

wowzers... it's been quite some time since I've been here, in pita land. I even got a warning from the pita police! dang!

anyway... work has been keeping me busy-busy. I was hyped to receive flash training for a whole week (3 weeks ago) -yippy!. the next 2 weeks, I had to follow up and finish up a project. and in that time, experienced wrist pains from mouse usage overload! I saw the doctor and I've been wearing a wrist splint for my right hand and soaking it in warm salt water. my hand is feeling tons better than it did before. extended thanks to my boss for lending me his pen and tablet -- much easier on the wrist to work with. I'm ordering one for myself.

and now, I've got another prototype project to work on. my co-worker got me to mess with fireworks and it rocks! it's like photoshop for the web! right now I'm working on the tutorial. niiice!

alright, time to munch on lunch. I'm starved. thought I'd add a new entry

"i'll be back."

M e t a l l i l a n d

welcome baaaaaaaack METALLICA! or shall I say...NEW METALLICA,with their new guitarist. has anyone checked out their MTV icon? it was niiice! can't say I like all of the artists' tributes, but METALLICA DEFINITELY ROCKED! wow! can't wait til' their new album comes out.

I love these guys. they were my first favorite heavy metal band. listening to them brings me back to good times in hawaii. we'd play my brother's metallica tape over and over. the black album! so far I have two of their cds. I actually plan to get them all, dvds too. I could've had their early albums! a cousin of mine once offered 4 of his metallica albums, but me... being super nice back then, couldn't take it; I just recorded them on tapes. I must say, if that opportunity ever arises again, "the me-today" would definitely say yes!

p.s. someday... I'd like to see Metalica Live!

What I've Learned from Lent

funny?, now that lent is over and I had a re-taste of the things I gave up: dessert/fries/shopping, I have learned that I could do little with or without them.

and not only do I feel this way, but so does my niece, G., who gave up chatting on the internet and is now reading books. I had asked her how she felt, and she said that she found there's other things she could do. -- cool huh? you go girl! also a friend of mine, kat, from which I read from her pita yesterday, (who gave up mountain dew)is now considering giving up mountain dew totally after her re-taste of it. wow!

anyway, I thought this was neat. I have to say...it was kind of sad, I thought, as easter came near, because I knew the challenge would soon be over. however, I was half excited because I planned to shop for some long awaiting items (which I have now), but...all in all from this experience, I have had a change of heart. and I realized, * you can control yourself.

lessons learned:

(1)-I had told my dad after we finish up the dessert ice cream bars and such I would transition to eating fruits instead

(2)-fries? well, every once in awhile

(3)-as for shopping, I've now given myself a $100 limit per paycheck from now on. exceptions would be if we go to the outlets/vacations. :)

p.s. can't wait 'til next lent! :)

RE:birth >> Close but yet so far...

what was I writing about? sorry for the delay.
btw, nuuuhhh-iice guesses kat! all your answers were kinda/sorta there, but not really.hehe
(a)-yes, spotted one, but not sure. -need to glance more. (details later) :)
(b)-nope, but searching is in the works within a year from now.
(c)-yes, nice tries.

alright, I was referring to "the start of starts", "anew beginning", "goodbye laziness", "hello punctual", "the early bird special",etc. --nonetheless, "A ROUTINE". A ROUTINE of long-awaited goals/projects galore, all in time slots, and... in a menu-type fashion. all in hopes to finally-finally pave way!, towards the future. and so... it has begun.

Goal#1: ROUTINE. initiated 3.25.03, with a redesigned routine menu I had created last year. It has been 2 weeks so far! and the whole week last week, I woke up at 6am. this week 8am latest!(was up til 1am recording Incubus on Jimmy Kimmel live show-Foo Fighters tonite!)

anyway, I guess I was scared/iffy whether or not I could ever discipline myself to wake up in the early morn', and it was difficult at first. but water in your eyes, and stretching every day helps get you up. so that's what I was bascially writing about - taking a new turn/driving off the road to create new routes instead of driving on the same old roads in a circle and going nowhere. all roads lead to somewhere right? wonder what lies at the road up ahead for me? -ROUTINE'S ROCK! here's to being "Forward-Driven"!

p.s. "interesting." -nice to know kat too is switching gears to the early mornings.

pps. forgive my run-on sentences/driving metaphors. and yes, will enjoy CHEVELLE tonite thanks. :)

Close but yet so far...

just a random thought that's been in my head lately. you know how when you get close to something, say... a goal, why is it that fear arises? perhaps it's a commitment/no turning back type thing. whatever the case, I should stick to my guns and always step forward. afterall, determination will get you somewhere.

Happy 1 Year Anniversary!*

I can't believe it's been a year since I started working here. wow! when I look back from a year ago to now, I realize how much I've learned with flash and html. I can only look forward to adding to my skills. here's to another year, if they'll keep me. :)

p.s. thanks arlene!

Happy NEW YEAR!*

wow! it's been quite some time since i've been here. I started my new years rather ill(2 weeks +!), but now i am back! and ready to attack! :) and might I add, I am taking my vitamins! (thanks to ms. avonladee!)

hmmm... well, what can i say? I am looking forward to this 2 0 0 3rd year. I have a lot of goals. but I think the most important one, is to gear myself towards being self-sufficient. If I can be there, I can be anywhere. right? and yeah, that involves the basic fundamentals of cooking, learning how to change a spare tire, etc. then after that, I guess it's thinking thoughts of where I'd like to be career-wise in the future. so we shall see!

btw, I got my new toy! my nikon 4500! the most expensive thing I've ever bought! It's pretty smooth! I was inspired by my friend, kat, who also owns a nikon. I just learned how to upload the images today on my computer. pretty fast! I can't wait to take more pictures. all I need to do is build my website to feature them. that, however, is still in the works. I think I've come to realize, the heck with a serious website. I think I'm just going to have fun and throw a cool personal one and include my work. I found that creating a professional website for my work just kept me stalled and limited. so fun = free! so hopefully I can also complete a site this 2003. keep your eyes peeled peoples! :)

hasta la vista baby, gine p.s. u guys gonna see the terminator 3?

Holiday card project

hoo-ray! I jussst completed one of my biggest projects yet at work! it is an online holiday greeting card that will be sent out to clients. I, along w/ my boss, developed in flash. the project was given to us with one of the marketing guys at work, who also worked with us. it was definitely a cool learning how to create a percent preloader and load movie transitions in flash. cool-cool! newly added skills for me. btw, I was responsible for the background designs and flash animations. my boss worked on the music and text animations. feel free to check it out. lemme know what you think. it's probably going to be online for a limited time.
hope all is well with you.
