SUPERMAN NEXT: BRANDON ROUTH
This is an odd transition, but I felt I had to post this because, I just found out who the next cast is going to be for Superman Returns. How well will this unknown actor do? I don't know. He's got the black hair, but not the natural blue eyes. Well, we'll have to wait it out 'til 2006 to see how it goes. Brandon's got pretty big shoes to fill.-The late Christopher Reeve(r.i.p.) A SUPER-MAN, INDEED.
I was shocked and saddened to hear the news of Christopher Reeve's passing last Sunday from a heart attack during a medical procedure. I didn't hear about it from the news, but Monday Evening from a friend. Christopher Reeve is one of a few - of my favorite male actors. Afterall, He starred in a *couple of my favorite all time movies. It wasn't until I saw him in interviews off screen, that I came to realize how brilliant he was. He's just so articulate! When he speaks, I just love listening to his point of view through his choice of words. His words are just really deep-- so much meaning. If I had a chance to meet any actor, Christopher Reeve would be one of them. I wouldn't know what to say, but that's how it always is when you come across people who you really admire. Just yesterday I was switching channels and I made it just in time... to watch Christopher Reeve's biography. He was so much more than just an actor. He was a pilot, activist, father, etc. I think it's amazing how he survived his accident and worked so hard to help with the research for spinal cord injuries. I really had hope that there would be the possibility where he could walk again. My heart goes out to his family and close friends with my deepest sympathy. *R.I.P. SUPERMAN, CHRISTOPHER REEVE:1952-2004 p.s. Like I mentioned in an old entry, I don't think there will be another actor that could live up to Christopher's role in Superman. 3 WEDDINGS, 3 CONCERTS, 2 CHURCH MINISTRIES, & ONE NEW PROJECT! They were letting peeps in and the line wasn't moving. Joy said if this line doesn't move by 10pm, we're out. Next thing you know, the line moved up! and the Bouncer stopped everyone right after us and wouldn't let anymore in! Dang! We were so lucky! :) I tried to take video and pics, but the crowd was too tall for me. Yellowcard was awesome once again. Their family were all in the V.I.P. couch/lounge section. It was nice. They did several songs and called it a night. It turns out they were on their way to Orlando for that Hardrock Live gig. Yellowcard rocks! they'll be here again at UNF in Nov. We'll be there! :) 2. Saturday, JUNE.19.04 - JULY 17?: Singles For Christ CLP SFC. CLP I think it was around Christmas time. We were at the Masinsin's for XMAS dinner 1/2, because we had to go to our cousin's place also for dinner w/ our relatives. Anyway, at the Masinsin's place, I was talking with Stefanie and I mentioned how I was taking RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) and getting confirmed in Easter. She mentioned being an RCIA sponsor. She also mentioned about SFC and that they were having a Secret Santa or Kris Kringle thing- I forget. She talked about maybe one time we could check it out. At the time, I wasn't thinking about it too much. So then after we got confirmed, Stefanie kept in touch and let us know there was going to be a CLP (Christian Life Program) for those who'd wanna join SFC. Terence and I checked Part 1 of 3 out and didn't finish coz we had a family party to go to. The talks were really cool, and the group was nice. I had my questions and 1% doubt. I guess I wanted to know what I was getting into coz you know, any type of commitment should be 100%. And then Stefanie said if it isn't for us that We didn't have to join (What Reverse Psychology from the Psychology major herself. -haha) Well, it worked. 2 CLPs later, we joined! After joining, we experienced: the assemblys, fellowships, households, and even did a skit! - thanks and glad kat & josh could make that! -boy was I nervous. Terence did good! Thanks for the photo taking kat! then ofcourse, I was interested in sharing it with friends, so I invited Olivia to the 2nd CLP, thanks girl! and just last friday, the 3rd CLP! - got to bring my cousins: Lanie & Debbie & Eric (Finally) this time: on the WestSide! On the way home, we almost got into an accident because some guy didn't stop @ a stop sign. But I just thought about how they prayed for everyone to have a safe drive back home. --THE POWER OF PRAYER! Everytime those close calls happen, it just makes me so thankful to God and the Guardian Angels for protecting us so perfectly. It makes me realize even more that we are still here and have more purpose in life. I hope I can help contribute thru SFC in some way. 2. Monday, AUG.30.04 - SEPT.9.04: CTK NEWSPAPER a 2 WEEK RUN Layouts in Quark Right after I got confirmed from RCIA, the team suggested we join a ministry. I was interested in joining The COURIER because one of the members presented and said they needed someone that knew Quark and to help with the layouts. Enter Me. Luckily I was guided by Darlene O'Neal, who is a part of the RCIA team and a writer/proof reader with the Courier. She kept me up-to-date and let me know when THE COURIER was going to hit a Crunch time. So thru the rainy days and hurricane madness, I helped out for two weeks. I think I did about 3 or 4 layouts. It was pretty cool because they liked my layouts for what few I knew of in Quark. They even accepted my creative freedom too. I have to say, the last night was stressin tho! I was the last one they were waiting for to finish. So I felt pressured and busted out a sweat. but we got done passed 10:30pm! I can't wait to see how it turns out. I think we're on a break right now. but they've got my contact info. I was joking with them because I was like... you still have my number? haha. they thought I was chickening out on them. They're all a bunch of nice senior citizens with they're little jokes/remarks. I'm the only young blood. anyone wanna help out? 1 NEW PROJECT! 1. Saturday, SEPT.03.04 - Present FREELANCE GIG. SECRET! I just wanted to say, something's brewing right now. More details to follow later. :) HAVE FUN! p.s. I finally had time! CHICAGO BOUND. via Independence Air (New East Coast only airline!) Thursday, July.29.04 to Monday, Aug.02.04 Details later... "I'll be back." P.S. I know I've got *Super catching up to do! will do a brief listing laters. ![]()
{VITALI KLITSCHKO BEATS CORRIE SANDERS!} Saturday, Apr.24.04 8 rounds of boxing! AWESOME BATTLE BETWEEN GLOVES!!! It was so cool! had my cousins come over to watch and popped some popcorn. We were screaming and yelling. This was the most scary and exciting fight I've ever seen! Here's the story. I think I wrote about the fall of Wladimir Klitschko, Vitali's brother. anyway, Corrie Sanders beat Wladimir sometime ago -- which was sad and hard to watch. Wladimir turns out has a weak chin and lack of defense. he fell hard 2 or 3 times. After that fight, Vitali challenged Sanders to fight him next. yeah! for his brother! Get this though: Corrie Sanders Is super fast for a heavy weight! He doesn't even look like he's in shape. Seriously, he's got a huge beer gut! Brawler style. Enter: Vitali Klitscho, the bigger bro! He was Awesome. This is the first fight I've ever seen Vitali really fight. Excellent Defense & Dodging! He had very good endurance too! EVERYONE KNOWS HE WOULD'VE BEAT LEWIS, if it wasn't for the cut in his eye. too bad Lewis retired early 'cause he knows he was scared to lose. oh well! !. The FIGHT: In the beginning Vitali Klitscho was a bit cautious, which was good. but then you have Corrie Sanders -speedy hands at his best with all his energy in the early rounds. but check this? he's only been a 2 round fighter! Advantage for Vitali!!! by round 3 and 5 (the best rounds!)Corrie was tiring out. it was so funny! he was getting all sloppy! he even did this little pivot move and missed! he was fighting like a drunk. Man! I don't know how many times Vitali hit this dude in the face. too bad Corrie didn't fall, but dang... he took a lot of straight punches to the face. it was all messed up! Vitali totally redeemed the Klitschko name. if anything, maybe Wladimir needs to work on his defense, and endurance, and hopefully they'll achieve their dream of conquering all the heavyweight belts. :) I will be cheering them on. I'm sooo happy for Vitali & Wladimir! I love these guys :)wishful thinking:If I had the money, I would like to see these guys fight live. ![]() right in the gut! THE WORLD HEAVY WEIGHT WBC CHAMPVITALI "Dr. Iron Fist" KLITSCHKO :) ![]() The brothers Klitschko: Vitali and Wladimir. Did you know these guys have Phds! Both Doctors and can speak several languages! *ATHLETES WITH SMARTS. Nice!!! p.s. saw this fight 3 times! It's that good! click this link to see my favorite boxers list. the Klitscho Bros are my number 1 & 2: think I'm going to put them both at #1. click this here link:FAVORITE BOXERS LIST *I'M LOVIN' IT! Wednesday, Mar.08.04 -> nope! not McDonalds!, MY NEW CAR! yup! I got my *first set o' wheels! woo-hoo! any guesses? It's rare on the road right now (no doubt to multiply with the quickness later). It's different. It's got a euro/mod boxy look/feel/design. Heads turning everywhere. my friends all say it suits me well! :) Introducing.... the Scion xB! :) man o man! well, here's the story... I saw one on the road and it was love at first site. I hadn't even planned on buying a car anytime soon. I guess I was waiting for the right one. pardon my words... sounding like a relationship, huh? ha! but hey... it sorta relates. well, spending as much $ is a huge investment and commitment. and then, you've gotta wanna see the car every day. so... well, that's my take. anyway! during the whole few days after I ordered my xB and anticipated it's arrival, I just couldn't believe it! I only told two people: a cousin and friend(they know who they are). but gosh this car's awesome! I got to customize the interior and exterior specs and have it built exactly. I love everything about it! a few accessories to name: red steering wheel, 18 inch enkei rims, and a lovely 6 cd mp3 playah! :) *noted dates: mid to end feb. - spotted a black and silver xBs on the road. last week of feb.- customized my interior and exterior via website (ah,the *beauty of it!) March 7.2004 - went to dealership: checked out a black cherry xB interior and test rode in a black xB March 8.2004 - ordered me a white xB! March 24.2004 - est. time: 8:45pm -first meeting/arrival of my xB! first drive home w/ 3 miles on the odometer. shania twain on the radio. New News!!! for those who don't know what's been going on w/ me lately. -- some highlights* for my 25th year! thus far! #1. "Look ma! no braces! :D" Tuesday, Feb.17.04 -> total "brace-wearing" amount of time = *18 months! hooray! yup! the braces are off! It was a weird feeling after my braces were off. brushing is so much easier tho! I have to say, it was a cool experience. I thought it was neat how the whole process worked out. I still don't get how the wires, rubberbands, and little brackets worked their magic.? I still have to wear a retainer, but it's cool coz I can take it off. woo-hoo! smiles from here on out. #2. CONCERTS w/ my bro. Friday, Mar.26.04: YELLOWCARD @UNF opening bands: Aleel - ok, Blackilicious - likes the beats more than the rhymes, Something Corporate - like the piano performance, kinda overstayed their welcome. Yellowcard, native jax rock band totally rocked! awesome live performance! violinist did multiple back flips. a bit of drama: a guy climbed onto the speaker. cops tried to arrest him. in middle of song, band members including lead singer rush out towards back to talk w/ cops to not have him arrested. meanwhile, drummer kept on drumming! - a long set. band members returned back to the stage. explained how cops wouldn't let him go. guitar guy cusses complains about jax cops for ya. violinist runs out says things r cool and guy would be let go if people don't climb speaker boxes. speaker climber guy returns. show goes on. crowd cheers and guitar guy apologizes and takes back what he said. Sunday, 04.04.04 :HOOBASTANK/LOST PROPHETS @ PLUSH> opening bands: I am a Robot - 80s looking punk band, didn't really care for them. guy wore vintage looking womens white shirt w/ floral black & white sleeves - yuck! Lost Prophets - stand out song: their hit: tiitle. loved their performance!!! The lead singer was coool! he had this white mic with a white cord and it totally stood out. he swung it around, threw it in the air/caught it, wrapped it around his arm, and did freezes/poses while singing. a stand out performance, I thought. the guitar guys were rockin' and there was this one long haired, mascara eye wearing, member. he did keyboards/sampling, djaying, and the screaming! I was talking to my bro and we were saying how he looked like he could've had his own band. Hoobastank, these guys rocked! and were on a roll! they busted out with a lot of songs. the leadsinger wanted everyone in the crowd hyped and jumping. we didn't jump tho. my legs actually hurt standing for a long time. #3. Easter Vigil: CONFIRMATION Saturday, Feb.10.04 What can I say? I am a complete Catholic now! I, along with the other RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) candidates, were confirmed at Easter Vigil mass @ Christ The King. The mass was very lovely. It was neat how everyone lit each other's candles from this one main bonfire, and then processed into the church. The readings were meaningful as always. The choir were at their best! even the bell people! they're so hard core -white gloves and everything like mickey mouse. I've never seen that at any church before. so if you ever attend sunday masses there, you'll know what I'm talking about. All Priests were present-which was nice. And Father Thanh sang throught the whole mass! wow! And to have all my family and friends there was cool! felt kind of like graduation on a different level. wanna know something really awesome? well, my parents originally weren't going to attend because they had tickets to the Shania Twain concert that night during that time! but guess what? A MIRACLE! my mom's friend called to say it was cancelled and rescheduled for July! and you know, that just made me smile :) Thanks to the Lord above for that one! :) All in all a powerful experience. I will never look at life the same way again. I'm so thankful, my friend, Avonn, invited me to join RCIA. It has been a meaningful 6 month journey! and it was all worthwhile! I've come to know more than I ever knew about my faith. But it doesn't stop here. I'll be attending a catechism class: which will cover all the rules/dogmas etc. about the Catholic faith. that starts next wednesday for 4 months. anyone interested? contact me. *The Passion Of The Christ Ash Wednesday, Feb.25.04 : A little late to the 5:30pm mass at Christ the King. It was cool. esp. in being with the company of friends that night. The church was pretty packed. esp. the parking lot. after mass, we headed straight to Tinsletown, only to find out that the 7pm shows we wanted to see were sold out so we ended up buying tix for the 9:50pm show. one of our friends decided to bail because he wasn't feeling good. It was all good though. Kat was craving for sushi, so we all headed to Kan-ki accross the street. It was our first time to all go there. It was funny because at first, I wasn't going to eat, but then I changed my mind with the peer pressure and once the miso soup arrived-haha. love that soup! :) The sushi was good - thanx to kat for her suggesting the philly roll. another friend was all happy with her wasaaabi. hehe. we headed back to the theatre around 9pm-ish and there was already a line.-not too long though. we managed to get good seats in the back. Thoughts on the movie: Overall, I thought the movie was good! Mel Gibson did a great job directing and casting, etc.(Thanks!) I'm really glad he decided to follow thru in making the film. I was wondering when they would come up with a new film again. Esp. in these times, with these generations. I've seen several films of Jesus, but this one is quite different. One thing I noticed, you see more of the human side of Jesus. there isn't an aura or glow around him. is I liked esp. how the dialog was in Aramaic(sp?) and Latin. I didn't feel that the focus on the movie was anti-semitism, etc.-as others did. Rather, I felt very sad and inspired. Though there were a lot of torture scenes, it made me realize how much our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, suffered to save us. I would definitely want to see it again. *The Weekend of January 24/25.-catching up. Saturday, Jan.24.04 I spent the day with the usual cleaning. took a nap and later in the day, we hit the batting cages with my cousins and nephew. My brother, Nephew and I batted! It was so cool! My Nephew, Kyle, was trying out for the baseball team, so they invited us out to go too. As a child, my dad, bro and I would play baseball/softball in the backyard and/or park.- so it's been awhile! This was the first time I've ever been to the batting cages! At first I entered the slowest pitched cage 40-50mph: dang! I missed so much, but then... bamm! I hit a couple and got the feeling! I was woohoo-ing at first. then entered to the 50-60mph: hit a few there. I had fun! wouldn't mind going again. it's really challenging and I think it'd be an awesome place to go if you're stressed. haha! the only thing was, I was super sore all over my arms and legs. later the evening, was the Gatti vs. Brancho fight! It was a cool fight! ofcourse we were going for Gatti all the way! he beat that undefeated (plucked eye-brow) dude good! yay! he even knocked the guy down too! Gatti's eyes were swelling too! and he still won. that is his signature. :) Sunday, Jan.25.04 Unforgetable Evening. chilled w/ my friends and made the first of my new year's resolutions. Thanks guys!(u know the deal!) hehe. :) p.s. if/when I do complete all of my new year's resolutions, I will surely reveal them all in a future entry. so await then. take care peoples! latahz! p.p.s. oh, and btw, if you'd like to read up on past entries. there is a link up above. |
